The vineyard was established in 1995 and purchased by Brendan and Janet Cameron in 2002. For the last 23 years Brendan has nurtured it and transitioned from conventional viticultural practices to organic in 2018. Full organic certification was gained in 2024. Brendan has had a long association with rural life having grown up on the family wheat sheep farm at Melrose. Early career choices in rural land valuation and later in real estate sales were a stepping stone in the lifelong aim of owning and running a productive rural enterprise.
Janet is a Londoner by birth and came to Australia at age 14. She has a creative flair and as well as attending art school she is a keen housemaker and accomlished dressmaker. Her caring and nurturing ethos fits in well with the at times demanding nature of viticulture.
More recently the next generation have become involved in both the viticulture and wine making. Janet's son Daniel lives at the second vineyard that was planted in 2022. He has studied viticulture and horticulture and brings a new enthusiasm to managing the vineyard. Janet's daughter Eliza and partner Tass run an associated wine business under the Lansdowne Wine brand, and continue to have input into the vineyard.
